Point of View or POV as writers like to say in their shop talk conversations, is a pivotal choice for any writing project. Choose first person and your reader knows this is a personal story from the perspective of you the writer or a character you've created whether fictional or nonfiction with your interpretation. But how do you choose from the rest of the options? First, Second, Third, Fourth, Third Limited, Third Omniscient and any mixture of these are all on the table. Or should we say The Page.


Choose your point of view and you choose the intimacy of this writing project. You choose the span of knowledge the reader will gain access into and you choose the emphasis on one or more characters for the remainder of your work.
