The Stories We Tell Ourselves: Fiction about Global Shifts
How do writers react to events that move the world? What can we learn from fiction about COVID, September 11th, and Occupy Wall Street? What about Trump Panic Fiction? We'll examine stories, as well as interviews and prompts, to glean lessons about how writers process world-shifting events.
What can it teach us about writing that's inspired by both memory and crisis?
We'll look at recent fiction about COVID (Negative Space by Gillian Linden, Joan is Okay by Weike Wang, and others.
We'll generate our own work with the help of prompts and discussion. All are welcome.
